today we had a model session with edward burtynsky's landscapes projected onto the figure.. here are two rough sketches! click here and here to see them in higher resolution!
thanks girl. they're just from the standard fourth year drawing class at my university. it was just something that my professor wanted to try out so she projected ed burtynsky's photos onto the model!
I think its foolish that you delete civil criticism. You have to be able to handle it publicly if art is what your passionate about. You cannot delete their opinions from reality.
i had a reply posted, but i felt really rude having answered the way that i did.. i essentially posted the drawings because it was a really refreshing activity and it actually helped me loosen my pencil? refined drawing isn't interesting to me and i've actually been drawn to this looser, more 'childlike' quality you were referring to. i don't really know what else to say? there's a fine line between constructive criticism and disdain.
Congrats on an amazing blog. I think the number of followers you have is a clear indication of your talent and charm as a drawer.
I was just wondering what kind of pencil you draw with. Your lines are able to be thick and thin with a greater variation of tone (the blacks are actually BLACK) so I'm convinced you're not using your average greylead. Help me out on this one :P
thank you! haha i work hard to throw stuff up so hopefully that translates, at least. :) i use 8B pretty exclusively.. staedtler has a really great 8B pencil that doesn't have that 'shine' that graphite usually has !
AAHH! So it IS just greylead! Yes yes 8B staedtler makes perfect sense. I also found a pencil that has a similar effect, except that it is ACTUALLY black. Its the conte brand pencil called pierre noire. I reckon you'd do wonders with it. I'm in Australia but I imagine they'd have supplies where you are too :P haha Keep it up :)

It was cool, actually! Done it before but approached it completely differently!
